MOT Test Frequently Asked Questions

An MOT (Ministry of Transport) test is a legal requirement for most vehicles over 3 years old. It checks that your vehicle meets the minimum safety and environmental standards to be roadworthy.

The MOT checks a wide range of components, including:

  • Lights and indicators
  • Brakes
  • Tyres and wheels
  • Suspension and steering
  • Windscreen, wipers, and washers
  • Seatbelts and seats
  • Exhaust and emissions
  • Vehicle structure and bodywork

If your car fails, we’ll provide a detailed report of what needs fixing. You can choose to have the repairs carried out on-site or elsewhere. Once the issues are resolved, we can retest the vehicle. In some cases, you may be eligible for a free retest within 10 working days.

If you cannot make your appointment or are running late you must contact the garage as soon as possible on 01753 651385. We will try our best to re-arrange. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may incur a £10 fee.

Only if your current MOT certificate is still valid and the vehicle is safe to drive. If the car is considered dangerous, it's illegal to drive it until the issues are fixed — even if your MOT hasn’t expired yet.

If you are a trade client please contact the garage directly.
